Fearfully Made

A Midlife Journey Back to Your Body and God’s Design

A gentle, Scripture-based devotional for Christian women who are ready to make peace with the bodies God gave them.

Have you ever caught your reflection in a store window and felt a little catch in your heart?

Somewhere in midlife, our bodies begin to change, and so much goes unspoken: the worry over food, the workouts that became a burden, the quiet shame about a body that was never the problem.

You are not alone in that, and you are welcome here.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Psalm 139:14

About the Book

Fearfully Made is a devotional for Christian women who are tired of managing their bodies and ready to live at peace in them.

What’s Inside

Over seventeen chapters, you’ll look gently at where your beliefs about your body came from, rebuild a biblical view of the body, heal your relationship with food, movement, and rest, and learn to receive the love God has for you as you are.

It’s written by a woman still walking this road herself, not a theologian or clinician looking back from a safe distance, so it walks alongside you rather than lecturing from above.

Seventeen chapters in four parts

  • Naming the Struggle

  • Rebuilding a Biblical View of the Body

  • Healing the Relationship

  • Living Renewed

In every chapter

  • A Scripture to hold onto

  • Honest teaching and stories of women from different seasons of life

  • Reflection questions, a worksheet, and a prayer, with real space to write in your own words

  • Questions to talk through with a friend or group

Also included

  • An honest, current conversation on disordered eating, food obsession, compulsive exercise, and GLP-1 medications.

  • A chapter on recognizing when a struggle needs professional support, with a full resources page.

  • A companion guide index for personal use or small-group study.

Who This Book Is For

This book is for you if:

You’re a Christian woman in midlife, and your body is changing faster than the old rules can keep up with.

You carry quiet shame about food, weight, or appearance that you haven’t said out loud, even at church.

Exercise has started to feel like punishment instead of a gift.

You want to see your body through Scripture instead of a scale.

You want a devotional to work through slowly, on your own or with friends.

A Taste of the Book

“A body that rests is not a lazy body or an undisciplined one; it’s a body living out one of the oldest truths in Scripture: that you are not what you produce.”

From the chapter Rest Is Commanded

For Small Groups

Fearfully Made works well as a small-group devotional study. Every chapter ends with talk-it-through questions, and the book is organized so a group can take it one chapter at a time over a season. A companion guide index in the back helps you plan.

About the Author

I am a mom, entrepreneur, and writer living in Kentucky. When I am not chauffeuring my daughter from one activity to the next or working, you'll find me hiking, traveling, or being cozy at home with a good book!

I wrote Fearfully Made after realizing that there was not a devotional dedicated to the many conflicting feelings women have about our bodies, especially those of us in midlife. I hope you find it to be gentle, honest, and rooted in Scripture.
